Lighthouse Challenge Coins Make for Wonderful Collector’s Items

Friday, September 30th, 2011

Lighthouses of all sizes blanket our coastlines. They guide mariners who are coming into port and come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. Some of the oldest lighthouses have been around for hundreds of years. People of all ages love to collect lighthouse memorabilia. From blown glass to antiques to custom lighthouse challenge coins, our nation is fascinated with items that resemble these magnificent structures.

Lighthouse Collecting Clubs Love Challenge Coins

The first lighthouse was built in the United States in 1716 near Boston on Little Brewster Island. It was destroyed in the Revolutionary War, rebuilt in 1783 and still stands today. Lighthouse collecting clubs contact us regularly to produce coins that are replicas of lighthouses that they have personally visited. This allows them to hold onto the memory of their trip long after they have arrived home.

Created According to Your Specifications, Custom Coins Are Personal

We have the ability to create a one-of-a-kind lighthouse coin for you that you will be proud to add to your collection. Just let us know what you have in mind and we’ll create artwork that meets your specifications. If you have a photograph of yourself or a loved one standing on or near a favorite lighthouse, go ahead and email us that image and we can print the photograph right onto your coin. This gives you a realistic personal memento of your moment that you can keep and cherish for years.

Lighthouse Gift Shops Sell Challenge Coins to Help Raise Funds

Many lighthouses are open to the public and offer gift shops where memorabilia is sold. If you are a keeper of a museum, you can draw attention to your landmark by creating custom challenge coins each year that can be purchased and collected. This gives visitors something meaningful to take home with them. It also gives you the funds that you need to keep the lighthouse maintained so that people can continue to visit them decades later.

The United States Department of State Commissions a Custom Shaped Challenge Coin

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

The United States Department of State is led by the Secretary of State, who is nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate as a member of the Cabinet. It is one of the United States federal executive departments and is responsible for the international relations of the USA. It was first created in 1789 and headquarters are in the Harry S. Truman building which is located a few blocks away from the White House.

Details Are What Make Custom Challenge Coins Attractive

We were contacted by the federal department because it wanted custom challenge coins created to give out. We were able to put a lot of time and attention into the details of the design so that it was a true representation of our customer’s ideas and vision. That’s what makes custom made challenge coins so ideal. Through the use of shape, colors, and plating, we are able to create a gift item so unique and attractive that others can’t wait to get one of their very own to take home with them.

Antique and Dual Plating Add an Extra Special Quality to Coins

The first thing you notice when looking at the customer’s coin is that it’s cut to the shape of an eagle. This helps give dimension to the design. The next unique feature is the dual plating. One side of the coin is plated in gold and the other is plated in silver. This makes it appeal to a larger group of people. An antique finish is also used on all of the recessed areas to give the challenge coin an aged look. Coins like the one featured here are challenging and rewarding to produce for our customers.

Presentation Options for Your Ceremony or Banquet

The coins are die struck solid brass coins that at are 3mm thick. Each coin comes individually packaged in a clear PVC envelope. We do have other presentation options such as coin capsules, velvet bags, and acrylic coin cases for you to choose from. This adds a distinct touch of class to all awards ceremonies and banquets.

Effective Ways to Use Breast Cancer Awareness Month Challenge Coins

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October.  It was founded to increase awareness of the disease and raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.  The campaign offers information, resources, and support to those affected by breast cancer.  As well as providing a platform for breast cancer charities to raise awareness of their work and of the disease, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is also a prime opportunity to remind women to be breast aware for earlier detection.

There is an estimated 230,480 new cases of breast cancer in American women this year alone.  That’s why it’s critical to have events that educate the public during the month of October.  Women are more conscious about their own health because of the Public Service Announcements, health screenings, informative workshops, and charitable fundraisers being held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

An Iconic Symbol is Easy for Everyone to Recognize

Breast cancer awareness coins almost always include the iconic pink ribbon.  One look at this globally recognizable symbol and one automatically knows the meaning.  Custom challenge coins are great for promoting the month for many different reasons.  As a fundraising tool, they raise money to benefit research programs that are trying to put an end to this disease.  Breast cancer coins can also be handed out to donors that give large amounts of time or money as a way to say “thank you”.

Walks and Runs Help Raise Funds for Research As Well As Survivors

Common events likes 3K walks and runs also use challenge coins to hand out to participants.  These coins are kept forever by the recipients to remind them of that event.  Adding pink glitter to your coin will help your breast cancer coin standout from the crowd.  We can even cutout the center part of the ribbon to really capture the effect.

With the entire month of October being dedicated to the awareness of breast cancer, you still have time to receive your coins for this year’s events that you will be holding.  Visit, email or call 1-800-252-0904 to request a free price quote.  Once we’ve heard your ideas or concept, we’ll have our art department start working on a full color digital proof right away.

Custom Challenge Coins Play a Key Role in Establishing a Team Philosophy in the Workplace

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

Allied Building Products Corp. has been in existence since 1950.  It is a family-operated roofing and custom sheet metal fabric business.  A strong commitment to customers and manufacturers is what put this company on the map and made them one of the largest and most successful distributors in the building material industry.  To date, the company operates in over 180 locations coast to coast.  It maintains a fleet of over 2,785 vehicles and employs over 3,100 committed individuals.

Mission Statements Make Challenge Coins Stand Out

The Cincinnati branch general manager contacted us with a coin idea that he had that would put the company mission statement on a coin for everyone to see.  He wanted his key managers to keep the custom coin on them at all times and to share it with other employees as well as new and existing clients.  His belief was that if everyone in the company from corporate to new employees understood the mission statement, that this would breed success.

For Training Purposes, Challenge Coins Are Best

The challenge coin serves as the perfect tool that people can carry with them and pull out at a moment’s notice.  If a decision needs to be made and a manager needs to think how the owner would handle that particular situation, all he has to do is pull out his custom challenge coin and be inspired by the message.  Potential clients instantly know what the business is based on and the type of treatment they can expect to receive.

Color or No Color, You Can Have Your Design Your Way

The national logo is the only part of the coin that is in color. The rest of coin is beautiful die struck gold with an antique finish.  That is the beauty of custom coins.  They can be made to look any way that you specify.  If you want to use a logo that represents your own business we can design it to look one of two ways.  It can be metal plated with no color or it can be created in soft or hard enamel with color.  Whichever way you prefer is how we’ll produce it.

Custom challenge coins win over customers and give employees the tools that they need to be successful.  The next time your company has something important to communicate, why not do so on the front or back of a challenge coin.  We can help!  Visit, email or call 1-800-252-0904 to request a free price quote.  Your attractive new coins are just a phone call or email away!

Challenge Coins Showcase the Beautiful and Powerful USCGC Alert

Monday, September 26th, 2011

The United States Coast Guard’s ship, The ALERT, is prepared at all times to serve her country.  Whether it’s Maritime Homeland Security, Law Enforcement, Drug Interdiction, Fisheries Enforcement, Search and Rescue, Marine Safety and Environmental Protection, Helicopter Operations or Damage Control, the USCGC ALERT is Semper Paratus.  Its primary missions are reflected by the motto, “Rescue, Enforce, Defend.”  It is the Coast Guard’s duty to do all three.

Coast Guard missions take the USCGC ALERT all over the Northern Pacific Ocean.  From the Maritime Boundary Line between Russia and the United States and the coastal waters off the Washington, Oregon, and California, its patrols put it all over the world.  Central and South American coasts are other places the USCGC ALERT travels to.

The ship patrols the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone to protect living marine resources from foreign fishing interests and board domestic fishing vessels to enforce federal and state fisheries and vessel safety laws. USCGC ALERT also enforces laws regarding illegal immigration and the detection, monitoring and interdiction of many forms of contraband.

The challenge coin we created for the group captures the smallest of details on the vessel by using what we call a 3D mold.  A hand carved mold is created that is used to add extra dimension and depth to our coins.  The front of the coin proudly displays the seal of the USCG which is a simple yet effective way to let all know what branch of the armed services this coin came from.
This coin was commissioned by the boats commanding officer and handed out to the men and women who served under him.  Throughout ones military career, one can accumulate many of these coins as they go from post to post.  Each time they pull their coins out, they are instantly reminded of the time spent on that tour or post.

When designing military challenge coins like this one, you want to include images or text that will spark a memory.  Having the actual 3D image of the ship on the coin is a sure fire way to jog the memory.  Including the town where the ship stays in port, Astoria, Oregon, along with its famous bridge are also visual cues that remind you of the time you spent on the ALERT.  Details like these are what make your challenge coins stand out.

Visit, email or call 1-800-252-0904 today with your request.  We’ll be more than happy to send you a free price quote and full color digital quote to look over.  Once you’re satisfied with your coin’s appearance, we’ll send your order to our production department for manufacturing and have them shipped out in about 2 weeks.

Department of Veterans Affairs Use Challenge Coins to Help Celebrate the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival

Monday, September 26th, 2011

VA Butler Healthcare partnered with the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival to host a Welcome Home Celebration to thank returning service members and their family members for their service and sacrifice.  The Welcome Home Celebration was held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Butler County Fairgrounds. VA Butler Healthcare staff was present to provide VA healthcare and benefit information, as well as information about special programs, enrollment, support services, and community resources.   We created custom challenge coins for the business to use as a thank you gift to hand out to returning service members.

After the event, the challenge coin served as a reminder for the men and women who need to take advantage of the services that the VA healthcare system provides.  Because the VA handles all branches of the military, the coin needed to reflect the 5 branches of the armed forces.  A great way to do this is by including each of the branches seals on the coin for all to see.

Another identifying feature of the coin is the VA Butler Healthcare that arches across the top of the back of the coin.  With many different VA Hospitals out there, no one will mistake where this coin came from.  The event name and logo for this year are clearly included in the center of the back of the coin.  Patriotic red, white, and blue are the predominant colors that stand out on this coin which adds to the design appeal.

Paying special attention to details like size, color, and shape help bring attention to your custom challenge coins and increase their perceived value.  The people that receive the coins from you will be impressed by the amount of time and detail you put into designing and creating them.  This makes them become an extra special gift in the eyes of the recipient.

Order you custom military challenge coins today.  We’re here to answer any questions you might have about the process.  Visit or call 1-800-252-0904 today to request a free quote.  We can’t wait to turn your ideas into a special event coin to hand out to veterans nationwide.

Soccer Tournament Coins Given Out to All Competitors

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

Recreational soccer is for ages 4 to 19. It is HUSA’s objective to encourage personal growth and achievement, promote team cooperation and unity, and advocate sportsmanship by providing athletic participation in “the most popular sport in the world.” Giving young athletes the skills they need to be successful on and off the soccer field is one of the group’s main objectives.

Custom Challenge Coins Make Great Additions to Welcome Bags

Hurst United Soccer Association holds an annual soccer tournament every Thanksgiving. This year, they wanted to include a custom made coin in the welcome bag that each competitor received upon registration. It was very important for the customer that we include the logo for this year’s tournament. They also wanted to recognize the league that was hosting the tournament.

Offset Printing Challenge Coins Allows for More Creativity in Design

Our coin provided the perfect canvas to show this information because we have two sides to work with. The coin that we designed for the customer needed an offset printed image on one side because the customer wanted colors to overlap one another so that their logo would be represented exactly as their corporate marketing division requires.

Traditional die struck coins like the front side of the coin must have metal separating colors. This means that no two colors and touch. As you can see on the “Turkey Shoot” side, the colors needed to be overlapped and intertwined in order to stay true to the design.

Banking Challenge Coins Help Recognize Years of Being in Business

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

Recently, the Firemen’s Federal Credit Union of NJ contacted us to help design and produce a custom challenge coin.  They needed a coin that displayed an image that represented their customer’s background (which was firefighting) and also conveyed a message that they have been in business for 75 years.  We were able to come up with a design that met these specifications and exceeded the expectations of the customer.

Promoting a Special Financing Program with Custom Coins

The coin’s purpose is to thank those men and women that trust their savings and investments with the credit union.  Banking coins like this are popular because of their versatility.  They can let everyone know about how many years a particular company has been open for business or they can help promote a special financing program that has just been launched.

Using Custom Coins to Size Up the Competition

Imagine you are in the market for a new or used car and as you walk into your bank and meet with a loan officer you are handed a coin that says “car loans as low as x percent”.  As you leave that bank and head out to the car lots, you will have a physical reminder as well as a mental picture of the coin that has the fantastic rate that you can expect to receive from that bank.  This is advertising at its best.  Custom challenge coins make great marketing tools.

Challenge Coins Make a Visual Impact Which Adds to the Success of a Program

Investing in bank challenge coins is a smart idea because no matter what the event is, we can design coins to make it better.  Let us help you launch your next special rate or have us design a coin that recognizes how many years you have been in business.  You can expect to increase the number of customers that come to you with financial needs all because you took your marketing campaign in a different direction.

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

One look at this coin and you will never forget it. It is a miniature version of a larger dagger which makes it truly one-of-a-kind. It was commissioned by the Department of Defense (DOD) for a joint base that has the Army, Navy, and Air Force ready and waiting for deployment.

With the antique finish applied to all of the recessed areas, no detail was left off of this custom shaped coin. It’s an exact replica of the dagger that was given to us to refer to. American Embassy Coins are Perfect Gifts to Hand Out to Distinguished Visitors

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

The American Embassy in Niamey, Niger recently had us help design and make custom challenge coins for their office.  These items are given to heads of state and other dignitaries that visit the office as a welcome gift.  Coins have also been made to coincide with different campaigns or initiatives that the embassy is trying to get underway.  The coins are visual reminders of common goals that have been set by the embassy.

What Does the U.S. Embassy in Niamey Do?

The U.S. Embassy in Niamey carries on the daily dialogue between our two governments. A primary goal of U.S. activity in Niger is the promotion of democratic institutions and good governance.  This is reflected in the coins that we created for the customer that requested them.  Creating a strong symbolic item for governmental agencies to hand out is important to us.

Using Photos to Tie Things Together

The coin that we created for the U.S. Embassy in Niamey is unique because we took an actual photograph of the embassy and printed it onto the front of the coin.  The other side shows a desert scene that is common to the region.  The beautiful oblique line edge adds instant value and appeal to this coin.

Images Help Draw Interest in a Group or Organization

Photos and images add instant appeal to custom challenge coins.  When used as a focal point they get people interested in the group or organization being represented.  This can help you gain supporters and even build your reputation.
