Fire & Iron Challenge Coins

Wednesday, October 10th, 2012

Challenge Coins Plus has once again been commissioned to produce a coin for the Fire & Iron Motorcycle Club. This time it was for Station 88 out of Rock Hill, South Carolina. “Fire and Iron Firefighter’s MC is made up of Firefighter’s and other people associated with the Fire Service who love to ride and have a good time. Each member is an Active Full-Time/Career, Paid-On-Call, or Volunteer member of the Fire Service community.”

The club offers a sense of community for the men and women that call themselves members. In addition to their love for firefighting, their love for riding bikes is what sets them apart from others in their community. Each station has its own coin if it chooses to order one. The Fire & Iron MC logo is often included on the coins for identification purposes.

The traditional Fire & Iron logo is on one side of the coin pictured here. Station 88 specific information is on the reverse side of the coin. This allows each individual club to get the recognition that it deserves by showing affiliation with Fire & Iron but also representing its own logo, motto, and city. Customers can further personalize their coins by adding a decorative edge, a 3D emblem, sequential numbering, a bottle opener mechanism or dual plating. Each option makes coins attractive, meaningful, and memorable.

Fire & Iron Challenge Coins

Monday, July 2nd, 2012

The Fire & Iron Motorcycle Club is made up of firefighters and people associated with the fire service who love to ride bikes and have a good time. Each member is an active full-time/career, paid-on-call or volunteer member of the fire service community. Each station has its own chapter of the club. Within these stations, challenge coins are very popular.

The members of each Fire and Iron group takes great pride in what they do as a career and also the motorcycle they ride as when off duty. You can see this in the designs they create for their own custom challenge coins. Each design is unique and memorable. In fact, most include the club’s nationally recognized logo that is well-known among the motorcycling community. Their logo is a great example of the type of logos that make for a great challenge coin.

The custom coin pictured here is especially notable for a number of different reasons. First, it is easily identifiable by the emblems and text included on both sides of the coin. The front reads, “Fire and Iron, Fighters, Est. 1999, and FIFL”. The back side of the coin reads, “New Hampshire, Lakes Region Station102”. Details like these make each chapter’s coin special while maintaining the overall theme of the group. That’s the beauty of custom challenge coins. Each one is created with the customer and recipients in mind.

Iron Order Motorcycle Club Challenge Coins are Custom Made for the Nebraska Chapter

Friday, December 9th, 2011

The Iron Order Motorcycle Club was started in a garage by a group of hardcore bikers wanting to share brotherhood and socialize with one another.  Members of the group come from all walks of life and all over the nation.  They are independent and do not belong to any associations. The group has their own clubhouse.  Members maintain the same probationary and hang around traditions that MCs established many years ago.  They stand together as brothers.

The club has a large number of members who are gun enthusiasts.  One look at the back of this coin and you can see how we incorporated their passion for guns into the coin.  Staying true to traditional iron order coins, we kept the colors of the coin black and white with sliver trim.  Motorcycle club challenge coins have become more and more popular each and every year.

The coin pictured here has the 3D mold of their club logo on the front which has been laid over the state of Nebraska.  The 3D mold actually is hand carved by one of our sculptors.  Custom touches like these drastically increase the value of custom challenge coins.  Not only are they attractive and long lasting, they are also memorable.

Challenge coins like this are used for a variety of reasons.  Often times they are given to new members of the motorcycle club or handed out at poker runs and charity rides.  This allows members to spread the word about their efforts as well as welcome new bikers into their chapter.

Lawmen Motorcycle Challenge Coins Helps Celebrate 25th Anniversary

Friday, November 4th, 2011

The Lawmen Motorcycle Association was founded in 1986 as an independent nonprofit organization.  The group was established to provide the opportunity for increased camaraderie between current and retired Law Enforcement Officers and the general public and to promote and advance the general interest of American motorcycle owners who are in Law Enforcement.

What is the Lawmen Motorcycle Association?

The Lawmen Motorcycle Association was designed to generate and develop a fraternal spirit between all Law Enforcement personnel and to increase the level of enthusiasm for those who enjoy riding American Iron.  We were contacted by the organization because they wanted a custom challenge coin of their own.  We were excited to get started on their design.

3D Molds Make Challenge Coins Stand Out

The challenge coin featured here has an awesome 3D mold of Saint Michael who is the patron saint of law enforcement.  Just looking at the details in Saint Michael, his wings and the surrounding scene we knew this coin would be the perfect candidate for a 3D mold.

Double Sided Coins Offer Diversity and Flexibility

The MC wanted to have color filled areas on one side but wanted to keep the other side just the plating color.  In this case, the backside of the coin is a mixture of high polished silver and recessed textured silver metal.  Anniversary coins are a great way to unite current members by honoring the past.

Using Coins for a Variety of Motorcycle Club Events

Motorcycle club coins like the one you see here use coins for anniversaries, for special benefit rides, or to remember a lost member.  Challenge coins are truly one of the most versatile pieces of memorabilia and everyone that has ever been presented one can attest to how special it is to receive one.

Rolling Inferno Motorcycle Challenge Coins Are a Favorite of Its Firefighter Members

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

In November 2003, an Indianapolis Local 416 firefighter formed the Rolling Inferno M.C. The club was formed to promote the brotherhood of Firefighters and to support charities that care for children suffering from burn injuries.  Motorcycle clubs are often times formed by co-workers who share the same passion for riding bikes and promoting biker safety.  In the case of this customer, the members of the club are firefighters from the same station.

Firefighter Motorcycle Clubs Make Their Challenge Coins Extremely Unique

Firefighter M.C. coins are always some of the more interesting coins that we do.  Their designs use a lot of black, red, and silver along with flames, crosses, and skulls.  Custom challenge coins like the one you see here are handed out to each of the new members of the M.C.  This helps generate interest in the club and also makes new riders feel welcome.

Leathernecks Motorcycle Club Coins Made for Biker Ball

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

The Leathernecks Motorcycle Club Intl., Inc. is a civilian organization made up of members of the United States Marine Corps. It is not affiliated with any other club or organization. Members are Marine Corps and Fleet Marine Force U.S. Navy Veterans, Active Duty Marines and FMF Corpsmen.  The group is nonpolitical. Nor does it focus on class, nationality, race, or sect.  Members act in good faith with other members, and uphold the traditions of the United States Marine Corps.

The Leathernecks’ Mission is Clear

According to the club’s website, their group is “A proud and distinct organization of active-duty and former Marines and FMF Corpsmen that stands apart from, yet not against, other motorcycle clubs. Just as the United States Marine Corps supports God, Country and Marine Corps Brotherhood, so too, does the Leathernecks Motorcycle Club support God, Country and Marine Corps Brotherhood. Just as the United States Marine Corps stands ready to defend our country and allies against tyranny, so too, does the Leathernecks Motorcycle Club Intl., Inc. stand ready to defend itself against tyranny of any kind.”

A Thoughtful Gift with Lots of Meaning

The challenge coin we created for the club will be used at the biker ball.  Honorable and sentimental, coins have been used for decades to rewards soldiers and the efforts that they make on a day-to-day basis in their personal and professional lives.  Placed in a velvet box or acrylic coin capsule, the keepsakes are a perfect addition to your awards ceremony or banquet.  They are professional, meaningful, and attractive.

Using Color and Decorative Edges to Make Coins Stand Out

Traditional Marine red is used to tie Marine Corps to the motorcycle club.  Many groups originate from the military branches that the riders are from.  This shared brotherhood unites the members further and gives the groups a sense of purpose based on the values that were established while they were serving their country.  A rope edge, like the one pictured here, helps give the challenge coin distinction and gives the members a memento that is attractive and valuable.

With motorcycle clubs on the rise, we are getting the privilege to deal with these great groups of folks on a daily basis.  They all share a love for riding as well a respect for the rules of the road.  Biker safety is of utmost importance and often we include a message promoting it on the front or back of coins.

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

Motorcycle clubs vary in size and purpose and are made up of men and women of similar interests.  Over the past five years, the number of new members joining these groups has increased rather dramatically.  The ST Owner Club of NY recognized this trend and decided to contact us with their challenge coin request.  They wanted to include an exact image of their Honda cycles on the coins that we made for them.

We Create Designs According to Your Specifications

Our art team studied the picture they sent us and created a detailed design based on their specifications.  As you can see from the picture shown here, a lot of time and effort went into creating the design for the customer.  Every detail right down to the image of the exhaust and the shape of the windshield accurately represents the bikes that the club members have grown to expect and appreciate.

Green Knights Motorcycle Club UK Chapter Designs Custom Challenge Coin

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

The Green Knights Military Motorcycle Club is a Military Motorcycle Club (MMC) that was formed back in late 1999 and was formally recognized in early 2000 at McGuire AFB, New Jersey.  The group originally set out to organize and create a club where riders can get together, discuss issues of the base, fight for biker rights, help each other, participate in charity events, and enjoy going on rides. Most of all, members share a common interest.  Their love for motorcycles and riding is ultimately what brings them together year after year.

Making Suggestions on Design Elements is Our Job

Currently there are 90 chapters worldwide.  They are in the U.S. AF, Army, and even some international allies such as the Royal Air Force, Irish Defense Force, and the Canadian Forces of Canada.  The UK chapter of the group contacted us because they needed help coming up with a design so that we could make specific custom challenge coins for them.  We suggested using the Green Knight logo along with a combination UK / American flag in the background.  This idea seemed to resonate well with the customer.

Chapter Emblems and Symbols Make Challenge Coins Personal

A chapter emblem “86” is the focal point of the backside.  Symbols like this are known to the chapter and club members and create a sense of secrecy about the coin.  Different RAF (Royal Air Force) bases where this chapter has members is also included in the design to give a personal touch to the coins. Details like these make challenge coins outstanding in terms of appearance as well as appeal.

Selling Coins to Raise Funds for Charity

Custom challenge coins make great fundraising items for motorcycle groups.  They can  be designed in a way that showcases the special event or charity.  Because they are pre-packaged in their own PVC envelopes, challenge coins make the perfect item to sell.  You can promote your club and help out a good cause by ordering custom challenge coins.

Visit to learn more about the different types of features you can add to your challenge coin design.  Call 1-800-252-0904 or email to discuss your ideas with us.  We’ll be more than happy to send you a price quote and full color proof free of charge.
